The Dag Hammarskjöld Scholarship Fund for Journalists

Today is a cold and cloudy afternoon here in New York, but I had never been in such a good mood in the past weeks. After a month and a half Javier, my husband, is coming here! And I'm happy.

I remember when I learned that I had been awarded with one of the four fellowships of the Dag Hammarsjkold Fund and that I would travel to New York for two and a half months, I told him that none of this would make sense to me if I can’t be able to share this with him.

He, as well my parents and my sister, always believed in me.

That time I was sad because it seemed that he was not going to be able to travel with me. The work, the construction we are doing at home, and the cost complicated the possibility of his trip.

But it all began to fit into place. And finally he arrives this afternoon!

Since I came to New York I kept thinking how much the two of us will enjoy been here. Whenever I went to eat at a restaurant, I wrote the address to return with him.

Even I bought him some things I knew He will love: magazines, books, books of photos (including a special of Sports Illustrated, he takes the most gorgeous photos of models).

The most marvelous of all, he will be present at the luncheon that the board of the Dag is organizing for the fellow! His presence in this important event is so special for me.

Able to share this wonderful adventure with him is surely the best moment of this whole trip!!

  Hoy es una tarde fría y sin sol aquí en Nueva York, sin embargo yo no había estado de tan buen humor desde hacía varias semanas. Luego de un mes y medio Javier, mi esposo, llegará aquí!!! Y estoy feliz. 

Recuerdo que cuando supe que me habían otorgado una de las becas dela Dag Hammarsjkold y que viajaría a Nueva York por dos meses y medio, le dije que nada de esto tendría sentido para mí si no lo compartía con él.

Sobre todo que él, además de mis padres y hermanas, siempre creyó en mí.

 Aquella vez estaba triste porque parecía que él no iba a poder viajar conmigo. El trabajo, la construcción que estamos haciendo en la casa, y los gastos complicaban la posibilidad de su viaje.

Sin embargo todo comenzó a encajar en su lugar. Y finalmente llega esta tarde!

Desde que llegué a Nueva York pensaba en cada instante lo mucho que disfrutaríamos juntos los dos acá. Cuando iba a comer a algún restaurante apuntaba la dirección para luego regresar con él.

Incluso le compré algunas cosas que sabía le iban a encantar: revistas, libros, libros de fotos (incluyendo un especial de Sports Illustrated, él toma unas fotos magníficas a las modelos).

Lo más maravilloso de todo es que estará presente en el almuerzo que los de la fundación nos están organizando!!! Su presencia es ese momento tan importante para mí será muy especial.Poder compartir esta maravillosa aventura con él es sin duda el mejor momento de todo este viaje!!!!   ...
